Television programme genres and history are a vital part of Japanese media studies. Dr Heinze’s main research in this area are the intercultural comparison of television ratings and the history of television advertisement. A research project analysing commercials through history from two major digital archives in Kyoto is ongoing, conducted in collaboration with Kyoto Seika University and Ristumeikan University.
